Overview

This specially developed hood envelops your subject’s head keeping it secure and steady for the long periods of time often associated with fMRI research. It is quick and easy to set up and can accommodate any subject. The hood is compatible with all research situations; the hood and pump are completely non ferrous for MRI, and permeable to X-rays.
How does it work?
The Vacuform hood is airtight and filled with tiny Styrofoam balls. The hood is placed around a subject’s head and secured with Velcro. When the air is vacuumed out, the balls squeeze together and mould around the subject’s head securing it in a comfortable position for long periods of time. For an even better fit the hood comes in two sizes and balls can be added or taken away using an opening on the front of the hood. The hood comes with a completely non-magnetic hand pump which makes it suitable for use in the scanner room.
Subjects feel comfortable and relaxed with the contact pressure distributed evenly around the head, whilst maintaining circulation necessary for the skin
